DALI

Dali are not a new to the music scene. They made their brief debut in 1995 before going their separate ways. Lead vocalist Elizabeth (A.K.A. Lisa) achieved success in the Hip-hop group m-flo whilst guitarist/singer, Daisuke Chiba, fronted Rock band Buckingham Q-den and opened an excellent bar in Shibuya called Gabi Gabi. Reunited, they have returned with some old tunes finally finished and a couple of new ones, that rekindle the raw energy they had.

DALIは音楽シーンでは決して新人ではない。1995年にデビューした彼らは、別々の道を歩む直前だった。リードシンガーのエリザベス（芸名：LISA）はヒップホップ・グループのm-floで成功を収め、ギター／ヴォーカルの千葉大輔はロック・バンドのバッキンガム宮殿のフロントマンとなり、渋谷に「Gabi Gabi」という素晴らしいバーをオープンした。再結成した二人は、新たにレコーディングしたDALIのオリジナル曲と、以前の活力を再燃させるいくつかの新曲を携えて戻ってきた。

There is a lot going on here and it’s at times frantic, it’s certainly not for the faint-hearted. Elizabeth’s vocals are keen to go to war with Daiske’s guitar and both of them win. At other times, they compliment each other so well it’s hard to imagine that they have not been together for a quarter of a century, the musical telepathy is so obvious. The pairing of God Save The King and God Save The Queen is a crown jewel.

このアルバムは非常に多彩で層が厚く、時に狂おしいほどだ。気の弱いリスナーには向かないだろう。エリザベスのヴォーカルと大輔のギターは、どちらも素晴らしく、リスナーの注意を惹こうと互いに争うが、どちらも勝つ。ある曲では、四半世紀も一緒に演奏していないとは思えないほど、お互いを引き立て合っている。イギリス国歌の『GOD SAVE THE KING』とSEX PISTOLSの『GOD SAVE THE QUEEN』のコンビは、まさに至宝だ。
